This year we have been reaching for passages of scripture that bring us peace and comfort and remind us of God’s promises to us. Psalm 91 NIV has been a constant reminder of the faithfulness of God and all of his promises of protection.
If you have any fear of your health or safety, meditate on these Psalm verses and let God speak peace to your heart as you remember his love for you and his promises to answer when we call on his name.
Our Favorite Verses From Psalm 91
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
It is in the nature of God to be a protector and guardian for those who put themselves in His care. Psalm 91:1 describes God as our protector and defender, but also a place of rest for those that hide themselves in Him.
What an amazing promise it is to have a shelter and a rest in these times! We have the choice to put ourselves under his shelter, and when we do there is rest in the shadow of an Almighty God.
“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Psalm 91:4
We have a wonderful Father who longs to protect us and give us shelter. Like a bird covering its young, this verse says that He will cover us and tuck us under His wings, and in Him we can find refuge. How wonderful to have such protection!
This Psalm 91 NIV verse says that His very faithfulness will be our shield and our rampart. A rampart is a protective barrier, a broad embankment raised as a fortification, or a wall-like ridge.
In these uncertain days, I know there have been days that I wished I were inside of a mighty fortress to hide away from the troubles we are facing. But we have that very fortress in our Mighty God! Let’s run to him as we face new challenges this season and cast all of our burdens on Him as He cares for us.

and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,

nor the plague that destroys at midday.

ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

and see the punishment of the wicked.9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

you will trample the great lion and the serpent.14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
