Article: Looking Back, Trusting Forward

Looking Back, Trusting Forward

Looking Back, Trusting Forward

Another year has come and gone.

Naturally, we start setting goals and thinking about what we want to be different in 2026. While that is good, it is just as important to look back over the past year and thank the Lord for the good things He has done.

Think about the new friends who came into your life, the moments when a relationship grew deeper, the ways God used you to encourage someone, or the quiet ways someone else spoke life into you. A lot happens in twelve months, and if we don’t pause and look all the way back, we can easily overlook how God was weaving our story when we didn’t even realize it.

So don’t rush into the New Year with a mindset focused only on what you hope to accomplish. Take time to remember how the Lord showed up for you this year. Let gratitude steady your heart, and then let Him paint the picture for the year ahead.

Bring Jesus into every area as you set new goals. He cares about all of it, and He truly has thoughts about it. Nothing in your life is insignificant to Him, and no mountain you face is too big.

Let this year begin with trust, gratitude, and the quiet confidence that Jesus is already ahead of you.

Scriptures To Meditate On:

  • “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

  • “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:6

  • “Remember the wondrous works that He has done.” Psalm 105:5

  • “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
