Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much our surroundings shape us. The words we see each day, the things we return to when life feels full, and the quiet reminders that steady our hearts without asking for our attention.
As I was putting away Christmas this year, I came across one of the very first framed pieces we ever made. It was the C.S. Lewis quote, “Look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else.” It spoke to me deeply then, and it still does now. It reminded me that seeking Him first would lead to a life that was full and deeply satisfying.

At that time, Rooted + Grounded was just beginning. We had just moved, leaving behind a home I loved, along with family and friends that were incredibly hard to move away from. There were many days I questioned what in the world we were doing. That quote always brought me back to Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Every time I looked at it, I was reminded that following the Lord would lead us into the life I was praying for our family.
Last week, I pulled that piece out and placed it in our kitchen nook. It’s a little more rustic than our framed wooden art looks today, and it has a few marks from being stored away, but it tells a story. It reminds me of all that God has done in our lives so far. And it still gently calls me to stay the course, to keep seeking Him, because there is still so much ahead.
Friends, having Scripture in our home has never been about filling a wall. It’s about creating an environment where truth is present, even in the most ordinary moments. It’s the quiet presence of God’s Word that shapes our homes the most. It settles us. It anchors us. It reminds us where our peace and rest are found.
Scripture chosen not just for how it looks, but for how it speaks into everyday life.
