Behind the Design: PSALM 91:2
One of my favorite parts of creating new artwork is finding the connection between a piece of art and a scripture.
Psalm 91 is one of the most loved chapters in the Bible. It's filled with promises of God's protection, care, and faithfulness. While the entire chapter is powerful, verse 2 has always stood out to me:
"I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.'"
What I love about this verse is that it isn't simply describing God, it's a declaration of trust.
Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." When our first response is to look to the Lord as our refuge, our fortress, and our source of safety, it reveals where our confidence truly rests.
Maybe you're reading this and thinking, "I'm not sure that would be my response."
Friend, that's okay.
Faith grows as we spend time with Jesus. As we meditate on His promises and learn to see Him as our refuge, those truths become more real to us. Psalm 91 is a beautiful chapter to read slowly, reflect on, and pray through.
When creating this piece, I wanted to focus on that single declaration of trust. I paired it with artwork that captures both the beauty and grandeur of creation. The soft colors bring a sense of calm, while the expansive landscape serves as a reminder of the strength, faithfulness, and security we have in Him.
My hope is that each time you see this piece, you're reminded to lift your eyes to the One who is your refuge, your fortress, and the God in whom you can trust.
